Introducing a custom valve seat solution for the Nissan GT-R R35 twin turbo VR38DETT engine for application in high performance camshafts, aftermarket valve train, fuels and surface treatments.
When upgrading camshaft and valves in the VR38DETT, one critical aspect of the equation is the valve seat. The valve seat must provide the proper hardness to seal without fault and thermal capacity to disperse heat efficiently. With larger duration camshafts, the interval during which valves are seated, and the speed at which they impact with the seat can easily overwhelm the stock seat material, leading to pitting, cracking and overheating.
Aftermarket material Beryllium Copper (BeCu) is often employed to replace the OEM Cobalt-Chromium alloy or sprayed on seats. While BeCu offers material advantages over OEM, it also represents a significant health hazard through particle inhalation.
Following our product launch of the VR38DETT valve guides, we have now also designed a GT-R specific replacement valve seat set using Moldstar® 90 high performance Beryllium-free Copper alloy. Moldstar® 90 by Performance Alloys, a long time secret of major racing teams, is the best available material for valve seats.
